Physical Therapy

Our Physical Therapist, Margie Ackerman sees patients Mon, Wed, Fri from 8 to noon.  Margie was born and raised in Skagway. She received her master of science in physical therapy at the University of Southern California and has been practicing for over 30 years in acute care, private practice outpatient therapy, nursing home and home health settings.

Occupational Therapy
Maggie Hotch, an occupational therapist out of Haines, provides services to Skagway residents during monthly visits.  Any individual that experiences difficulty in managing their daily occupations including productivity, self-care and leisure is a good candidate for occupational therapy.  Please see this flyer for more information about the services that Maggie offers. Visits with Maggie are covered under the sliding scale!

Optometry
Dahl Memorial Clinic partners with two visiting providers to offers optometry services to the Skagway community. Vision visits are not covered under the Sliding Fee Scale, however the optometrists will accept most insurances.

Dentistry
Dr. Jared Erickson and his staff regularly visit Skagway to see patients in the clinic's dental suite. Dr. Erickson received his doctorate in dentistry in 2004, was employed by SEARHC Dental from 2004 to 2006, and began private practice in Juneau in 2006. Dr. Erickson has been seeing patients in Skagway since 2010. Dental visits are not covered under the Sliding Fee Scale, however Dr. Erickson will accept most insurances. All children's dental visits at the clinic are free of charge. Exams, X-rays, Cleanings, and Fillings are covered under the sliding fee scale for adults

Breast Cancer Detection
The Breast Cancer Detection Center of Alaska is a non-profit organization whose mission is "To increase awareness of the survivability of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection by delivering screening services and educational programs throughout the State of Alaska." In 2011, they purchased a 33 foot Freightliner coach equipped with the latest in digital full-field mammography technology.  This mobile, state-of-the-art mammography system provides screenings to towns and villages in Alaska, including Skagway. Currently, the BCDC mobile mammogram bus plans to visit Skagway once a year, during August or September. For more information, visit http://www.bcdcofalaska.org/ 

Dr. Noble Anderson
Dr. Noble Anderson is the Chief of Staff at Ethel Lund Medical Center in Juneau. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and has practiced in Sitka, Haines, Bethel, Kotzebue, and Ketchikan in Alaska as well as in Washington State and California. 

Dr. Anderson generally visits the clinic at least once quarterly. He sees SEARHC beneficiaries, but can see any other patients as well. The clinic bills for his services the same as for any of our providers and the sliding fee scale applies.

Dr. Katherine Peimann, MD
Dr. Peimann is a board certified Internal Medicine Physician who specializes in primary care for adults.  She attended the University of California Santa Cruz where she earned a BA in Biology and then went on to New York Medical College where she received her MD. She is currently an active medical staff member at Bartlett Regional Hospital and works full time at Southeast Medical Clinic in Juneau.  Dr. Peimann founded Southeast Medical Clinic in 2003 with the goal of providing high quality, patient centered Internal Medicine care to the community of Juneau and surrounding areas. Dr. Peimann visits the clinic several times a year to see patients. The clinic bills for her services the same as for any of our providers and the sliding fee scale applies.

Jennifer Pierce DNP, PMHNP-BC

Jennifer is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. Prior to a career in psychiatry, Jennifer spent 14 years working as a Registered Nurse in a variety of settings including critical care and emergency care services. Prior to moving to the Skagway she spend her free time volunteering as a victim advocate and providing crisis intervention services. Jennifer has experience working with all age groups in the diagnosis and treatment of all mental health disorders and specializes in treatment of trauma-based disorders and disorders in children and adolescents.

 

Becky Rubright, Master of Oriental Medicine

Becky owns and operates Living Harmony Healing Center in Tampa Fl. She earned a Master of Oriental Medicine, with honors, by Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles, CA. She pursued her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO.

Becky’s services are primarily acupuncture, but she also incorporates aromatherapy and reflexology into every treatment. Becky charges $80 for first-time appointments of 90 minutes and $60 for follow-up appointments of 60 minutes. She will provide documentation that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement depending upon your coverage. Contact the clinic to schedule an appointment.
